For some people, cold turkey is the easiest way to break that cigarette smoking addiction.  For others it's the toughest.  You owe it to yourself to try going cold turkey though. It costs you nothing to try.

Most people won't even try quitting cold turkey, they just marched down to the doctor or the drugstore and start buying everything in sight, thinking this is the magic I need!  If you are one of those I wish you well.  I hope it works for you.  But think about it, when you put that patch on virtue that come you are quitting cold turkey.  You just have a little assistance.

No matter what you do, your body will fight you on this.  Cigarette smoking is an addiction.  Your body becomes addicted to the nicotine, and it's a hard habit to break.  As is true with all quit smoking methods you have to want it.  You have to want it badly enough to endure those cravings.  When you weigh out the benefits, you'll find that quitting cold turkey is your friend.

The various ways to quit smoking cold turkey can be had by asking others who have succeeded in quitting smoking. No matter what way you choose, it’s going to be one of the toughest things you’ve ever done. You’re going to experience withdrawal symptoms which can include depression, suppressed or increased appetite, weight gain, sleeplessness, a feeling of mourning and more. You have to realize that these symptoms will pass so try to hold on as much as you can while trying ways to quit smoking cold turkey. You’ll soon be free of the hold that nicotine has on you and you’ll feel a sense of pride that you beat this extremely addictive habit.

Throw your old friends away

You know, your cigarette lighter, ashtrays, and of course your cigarettes.  Get rid of anything and everything that reminds you of smoking.  It will make it much easier to quit, when you don't have to stare at those things.  Believe me you will stare at them if they're still around.  I don't mean hide your cigarettes and lighter in a drawer either.  Throw them away!

Stay busy

When you quit smoking cold turkey are with the assistance of patches or what ever you decide to use.  Find something else to do with your time.  You need to stay busy.  After eating, get up and do something.  Play a sport, get into your hobbies, do what ever you like to do other than smoking.  It will take your mind off of it.

Keep positive thoughts

This is crucial!  A lot of people will tell you in order to quit smoking you have to think of all the negatives, like how bad cigarettes are for you, how nasty they are, how nasty you smell, and on and on.

I disagree with the negative thought approach.  I've always been a believer that negative begets negative.  You need to think positive thoughts.  How great you will feel, how long you will live, how great your house will smell, how great your car will smell, the list goes on and on.  The point is positive begets positive!
