Remember The Physical Benefits of Quitting Smoking To Help You Quit

When you quit smoking, you need to keep all the reasons you're quitting in the forefront of your mind.  You have to know why you're quitting.  You have to keep reinforcing why you are quitting.  When the urge to smoke happens, you need to move that thought of why you're quitting in front of that urge.  When that urge comes, I have found that the best things to think about, or the health benefits.  The most important thing in life is life itself.  Smoking cigarettes robs us of that life.  Not only will it take you down prematurely, it will reduce the quality of life before it takes you down.  Life is too short as it is.  Why would we want to shorten it even more?  Keep these thoughts in the forefront of your mind and it will help you to quit smoking.

Awareness Posters and Scary Thoughts

I don't believe in negative reinforcement, however, sometimes we just need a shock treatment.  How do you think you look with yellow eyes?  How about leather skin?  How about wrinkles all around your mouth and eyes?  Better yet do you think you'll enjoy wheeling a oxygen tank around behind you?  How about walking up to steps and gasping for air?  How about not being able to breathe at all?  These are all scary thoughts, but they will become a reality if you continue to smoke.

The hand writing is on the wall.  This is your life in the future if you continue to smoke.  We all try not to think about these things, I know, because that's what I did for years.  It's time to face reality.  This is real-it's your future-and it won't change, unless you change it by kicking your cigarette smoking addiction.

Visit A Nursing Home

Talk about a culture shock.  Visit a nursing home.  Nursing homes are full of people who have smoked all their lives.  All of these people are on oxygen, and just barely living.  What kind of life is that?  Some of these poor people are just full of cancer and don't have very much longer to live.  They are holding on to every minute they have, even though it is so difficult for them to even breathe.  I don't blame these people for anything.  I feel so sorry for them, that they were not able to quit smoking.  I know I don't want to join them though, and you don't either or you wouldn't be reading this.

Make your choice now, to quit smoking, if for no other reason than you don't want to become one of these people.  Give up smoking now and live a long and healthy life.
